In the middle of August, Loewy was in SINGAPORE with Chao-Yang University of Technology to visit various Design Institutes to discuss possibilities for collaboration and exchange programmes. He also paid a personal visit to Milton Tan, the Director of the Singapore Design Council and discussed among other things the upcoming ICSID'09 Congress to take place in Singapore 23rd - 25th November and the following Singapore Design Festival.
At the end of August, Loewy was judge of the IBDC (International Bicycle Design Competition) the only global competition of its type, and speaker at the following Bicycle Design Conference, both organised by Edward Liao of the CHC (Cycling & Health Tech Industry R&D Center) here in Taichung. Other judges were Han Goes of Qsquare Consultants, Nederlands; Mark Sanders of MAS Design Products Ltd., UK; Jack Tigh Dennerlein of Harvard School of Public Health, Boston, USA; Uwe Weissflog of inMotion (Marketing Communication Services); Michael Tseng, President of Merida Industry Co., Ltd.,and Chairman of A-Team, Taiwan. They were supplemented as speakers at the conference on the following day by Dr. Jay Lee of University of Cinncinati and Director of IMS (Intelligent Management Systems), Cinncinati, USA.
Over the coming months, Liao will be giving speeches about Scandinavian Design around the country for DAVIDOFF.
Finally, look forward to our new look ... we are redesigning our web-based communications: both our website and newsblog, and hope to upgrade in the coming month!

Scandinavian Designers has a new niche in Space Design.
Since designing the Danish Pavillion at the 1st Taiwan Creative Design Expo in 2003 Scandinavian Designers has designed:
Nordic Window's first flagship shop (2005) in the Eslite Commercial Centre by the 101 Building in Taipei and a booth for them at the 2006 Young Designer's Show at the Taipei World Trade Center pretty much next door.
A Show House for Chen-Jia Construction Co. in Douliou, Central Taiwan (2007)
A Family House in the same complex (2007).
And, most recently, the Remodelling the Museum Shop at Korea National Folk Museum (2008).
Currently, we are working on a Brand Development, Retail Design and Packaging Project with the Taiwanese restaurant and herbal gift -store chain "Lavender Cottage". The first store with our new design is planned to open before 31st March 2009.
We have also been asked to design a luxury home just beside the new City Hall building (under construction) in Taichung's chic new Chi-Chi District.
On August 29th 2008 Scandinavian Designers in Korea concluded a very successful day for the 43 CEOs of GS Group - S. Korea's 7th largest chaebol (conglomerate). The theme of the conference was Culture in Business and Scandinavian Designer's Prof. Loewy led the day with 2 lectures and a workshop.
We expect to receive video from the conference from GS soon and will post clips here as soon as they are edited.
