In 2007 Wal-Mart asked us to redesign an existing and highly successful boom box for them. We designed three variants representing three steps in different directions, but knew that Wal-Mart would choose the one that represented the smallest step away from their existing product.
We show all three variants here. The electronics, mechanics and their positions are exactly the same as in the existing boom box, but the designs are radically different from each other.
Our work for Wal-Mart is the only example of a styling design project in our portfolio, but even in this case we worked hard to upgrade the project and produce original designs for them to chose between.
